Pilgrimage to Kalmadi & Perampalli Churches – Kottar A

St Francis Xavier Ward, Kottar A organized a pilgrimage visit in January for all its families to Kalmadi and Perampalli churches. It was a fun filled meticulously organised event.

16 ward members participated in the pilgrimage event. The pilgrimage started with offering the Rosary and Hymns were sung to and fro all throughout the way.

Perampalli Church and Belfry is a well planned and meticulous built, which gave treat to all our eyes. The unique structure is designed in Gothic style in accordance with Biblical architecture. The tower is nearly 170 ft in height and 83 ft in width and has two crosses installed on the top. Various images from the Bible have been carved in the recess.

Stella Maris church devoted to Our Lady of Vailankani attracts thousands of pilgrims. Inspired by the Noah’s Ark, Stella Maris Church in Kalmady, Udupi is built in the shape of a boat and also has a bell tower in the shape of a lighthouse. The schenic beauty around the church was a treat to all our eyes.

A Hindu Brother explained the sequence of events which led to the veneration of Velankanni Mother Mary statue. Ward members actively participated in the thanksgiving prayer service at both the churches.

Pilgrimage ended with a short visit to Malpe beach. Refreshments were served to all the members.
