The year 2018 is being observed by Mangalore diocese as a ‘Year of Rosary’ in order to enhance the devotion of rosary among our family members and also at all functions to obtain special graces and protection through mother Mary.
To commemorate this significant year, we had organised an exhibition of ‘Rosaries and other articles of Virgin Mary’ on Sunday the 21st October, 2018 at 5 pm, in our Silver Jubilee Hall, Ashoknagar.
On this occasion Mrs. John Vas, member of the Co-ordinating committee, welcomed the gathering which was followed by a Prayer dance by the postulants of St. Joseph’s Convent.
The program was started by lighting the lamp by the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha OP, Vice President Richard Gonsalves, Secretary Isac Furtado, Co-ordinator of SCC Mrs. Euginia Pinto and Postulant mistress of the Convent Sr. Jyothi; while the Parish choir sang the hymn.
Rev. Fr, Aquin Noronha, thereafter venerated the statue of mother Mary with garland and then officially inaugurated the exhibition arranged by 10 wards, YCS, Dominican Brothers and catechesim children.
The parishioners were requested to visit all the exhibition tables and were served light refreshments.
Thereafter the people from 10 wards, YCS and Dominican Brothers sang Marian devotion hymns while our choir played music.
The Parish Priest then delivered his message to the gathering regarding the significance of rosary devotion.
Mrs. Stella Ferrao thanked all those who were responsible for systematically organising this exhibition and actively participated in making it more colourful and a memorable one
This was followed by a dance on mother Mary by catechism children, a religious play on the apparition of mother Mary in Fatima and a religious dance by children.
All those who gathered went in procession near the Grotto by holding the lit candles & singing hymns. After reciting rosary the Parish Priest gave final blessings.
