Inauguration of Golden Jubilee Memorial Community Building & Grotto

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights – James 1:17

By the Grace of Heavenly Father, St. Dominic Church, Ashoknagar has been bestowed with numerous good things and wonderful gifts over the past 50 years. On the completion of its Golden Jubilee, the Parish has received yet another amazing gift - a beautiful ‘Golden Jubilee Memorial Community Building’ which was inaugurated and blessed on 23rd May, 2021.

The inaugural ceremony commenced with a joyful hymn. The Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha OP and the Prior of St. Dominic Seminary Rev. Fr. Daniel Veigas OP jointly inaugurated the Golden Jubilee Community Building by cutting the ribbon at the entrance and then the Parish Priest symbolically opened the building by pushing the entrance door. The Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council Mr. Maxim Crasta and the Secretary Mrs. Noreen Pinto accompanied them followed by all the invitees. Then Mr. Maxim Crasta gave an insight into history of the building from the inception of the idea of its construction till its completion.

For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything – Hebrews: 3:4

Amid all difficulties and restrictions, God has blessed the labour of all the workers and the building has been completed as planned. With this apt note, Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha conducted the Prayer Service and Rev. Fr. Daniel Veigas OP gave the reflection on the word of God. In his reflection he said: “Pentecost is the 50th day and as our church is celebrating its 50 years of spiritual journey, it is the right day to inaugurate the building”. Mrs. Deborah Locker read the Prayers of the Faithful and later the entire building was blessed with Holy Water by the Priests. At the end, the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha OP shared his experience and expressed his feelings of gratefulness to all who had worked hard towards the successful completion of such a big project. He acknowledged the hard and dedicated work of each and every person for their generosity and thanked them.

Later all gathered at the newly erected Grotto to witness the blessing ceremony. The Statue of Mother Mary was brought by the Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha OP and the Assistant Parish Priest Rev. Fr. Royston Lobo OP from the Church in a procession and it was placed inside the Grotto. Then the Parish Priest conducted a small Prayer Service and blessed the Grotto.

The Architect of the Building Mr. Deepak D’Souza, the Contractor Mr. Roy Castelino, Roy Constructions, Mangalore and his associates, the Architect of the Grotto Mr. Walter Pinto and his associates were present on this occasion. The entire ceremony was witnessed by the Ward Gurkars, the members of Finance and Tender Committee and the Dominican Priests. Dr. Theresa Nunes compered the programme.
