Farewell To Rev. Fr. Aquin Noronha And Rev. Fr. Royston Lobo

On 15th June 2021 a farewell ceremony for Fr. Aquin Noronha and Fr. Royston Lobo was organized in the Church. Members of Parish Pastoral Council and Finance Committee were present representing the parish community. The program began with a prayer service. Mr. Winson D’Souza, President of Catholic Sabha read the Word of God and Fr. Daniel gave a short reflection upon that where he mentioned that when priests are ordained they are called to take Jesus Christ as the treasure with the chalice of suffering, and lead a missionary life wherever they are sent. Intercessory prayers led by Sr. Jyothi SJT were offered for various needs.

This was followed by a short honouring programme. Mr Maxim Crasta, vice president of the Parish Pastoral Council welcomed everyone and also shared his experiences on how Fr. Aquin and Fr. Royston had made an impact on the people through their dedicated service and the dynamism in which they administered and reached out to people.

On behalf of the parishioners, Mrs. Benedicta D’souza, gurkar of Kodical B ward shared her experiences as to how blessed we were to have Fr. Aquin and Fr. Royston with us as our God sent shepherds with unique talents and gifts.

Mrs. Noreen Pinto, secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council read the Maanpatr of Fr. Aquin and then he was honoured with shawl, fruits, flowers, and the Maanpatr. Memento of the Golden Jubilee of the Parish was then presented to Fr. Aquin.

Mrs. Deborah Locker read the Maapatr of Fr. Roystan Lobo and then he was honoured with shawl, flowers, fruits and the Maapatr. Memento of the Golden Jubilee of the Parish was presented to him.

A farewell song was sung by the parish council members expressing their love and assuring them of our prayers.

Fr. Aquin in his farewell speech mentioned that his life has been an ‘open book’ and during his tenure as parish priest he has experienced the cooperation, love and support of the parishioners.

Fr. Royston mentioned in his speech that his two years of stay in the parish has been a blessings as well as a learning experience which made him grow. He thanked the people of Ashoknagar parish and gave his priestly blessing to all.

Fr. Daniel Veigas wished both the priests well in their future missions and on behalf of the parishioners presented them Mogachi Kanik. Mrs. Noreen Pinto proposed the vote of thanks and then Fr. Aquin Noronha gave his priestly blessings to all. The program ended with singing the praises of God. Refreshments were served to all present.
