The ICYM St Dominic Church Ashoknagar Unit successfully organised the Inter-Ward Cricket Tournament on 1 February 2026 at the Church Ground of St. Dominic Church, Ashoknagar. The event commenced with the inauguration ceremony of the cricket match in the gracious presence of the Spiritual Director, Rev. Fr. Daniel. The programme was also honoured by the Assistant Parish Priest Fr. Meckenzie Mendonsa, the Parish Council Vice President, Mr. Isaac Furtado; the Ex Vice President Mr Maxim Crasta; Secretary, Ms. Meera Mendonca; Coordinator of 21 Associations, Mr. Flavy Shanthi Lobo; ICYM Animator, Dr Theresa Nunes; and Vice President, Mr. Melroy D’Souza. The programme began with a prayer song, invoking God’s blessings for the success of the tournament. A speech was delivered by the Vice President, Mr. Melroy D’Souza, who encouraged the participants to play with unity, discipline, and true sportsmanship.
The tournament witnessed enthusiastic participation from 10 groups representing different wards and a religious team. The matches were played with great team spirit, excitement, and healthy competition. The event brought together youth and parishioners, fostering unity and strengthening community bonds. Adding to the lively atmosphere were various food stalls set up by ICYM, offering refreshing drinks and delicious snacks to players and spectators. These stalls greatly contributed to the overall success of the event and kept the energy high throughout the day. The tournament concluded with a valedictory programme. The vote of thanks was delivered by the ICYM Secretary, Miss Freya Mendonca, who expressed sincere appreciation to everyone who supported and contributed to the success of the event. Heartfelt gratitude was also extended to all the contributors, sponsors, volunteers, and participants, without whom the event would not have been possible. The programme ended on a joyful note with the prize distribution ceremony, celebrating the winners and appreciating the efforts of all the teams. The ICYM Inter-Ward Cricket Tournament 2026 was a grand success, strengthening fellowship and promoting sportsmanship within the community.
